Attending the MOBO Awards this year was honestly surreal. Celebrating 30 years of the MOBOs in Manchester made the moment feel even bigger—three decades of shaping culture, championing Black music, and creating opportunities that go far beyond the stage.
For the first time ever, the awards took over the incredible Co-op Live arena in Manchester, bringing together some of the biggest names in music and culture for a night full of energy, performances, and powerful moments. From artists like Aitch, Tiwa Savage, FLO, and Olivia Dean lighting up the stage, to iconic honours like Pharrell receiving the Global Songwriter Award and Slick Rick being celebrated for his legacy—it was a reminder of just how global and influential our culture is.
But what really made it special for me was being there representing Palmtree. In a space that’s all about celebrating Black excellence, innovation, and impact, it felt powerful to be building something that contributes to that same mission—spotlighting Black-owned businesses, events, and opportunities in our communities.
There was also a whole week of energy around the awards, with fringe events happening across the city to support emerging talent and create real opportunities beyond the main stage. That’s what makes the MOBOs different—it’s not just a celebration, it’s a movement.
Left the night inspired, motivated, and even more locked in on the vision.
